As an intern, between my second- and third-year reading Advertising (BA) at Bournemouth University, I was, and continue to be passionate in applying the knowledge and theory I have learnt during my first two years of studies.

Advertising/marketing is my passion, particularly the digital marketing landscape which has such exciting growth and development prospects. Digital marketing is certainly an area I have always aimed to get my foot in the door, and as an intern and PPC Executive at Avenue Digital to say I have learnt a lot is an understatement…

With a somewhat uninformed expectation and perception of working agency-life, Avenue Digital welcomed me from the start as a valued member of the team, highly invested in my personal growth. With a limited understanding of paid marketing and a certain lack of required skills, my manager was quick to start developing my expertise with a patient and understanding approach. I am extremely lucky to work within a team of like-minded, approachable and professional individuals.

Six months later I feel confident in my ability to strategize, create, manage and optimise multi-media platform paid and social campaigns for a variety of clients. Learning the power and potential of the digital marketing industry has been extremely interesting to observe, and dare I say, influence. I continue to learn new ways to improve client performance and account optimizations whilst understanding the corresponding influential factors.

Working within an intimate local agency has offered me the perfect opportunity to learn a manifold of new skills, not only with the roles and responsibilities of being a PPC Executive, but a furthered understanding of agency life, client relationships, new business development and many more constituent factors of the job.

This experience has certainly not all been about work either, many work outings, pub visits, competitive games of foosball, parties and a constant supply of tasty office treats has made my time at Avenue all that more enjoyable!

In addition to many newly developed skills, I have had the opportunity to further my existing qualifications, completing all Adword Fundamental Exams as part of my training and later completing the IPA Foundation Certificate.

Embarking on my placement year at Avenue Digital has provided many invaluable irreplaceable skills which I will use throughout my career to follow, not only this, but this experience has further confirmed and concreted my passion and excitement to develop a career within the advertising/marketing world.

A very enjoyable, challenging and rewarding first six months of industry exposure!
